What is Child-Centred Play Therapy?
Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) is a gentle, evidence-based approach that allows children to express their thoughts and feelings through play — their natural language. Rather than asking children to sit and talk about how they feel, play therapy meets them where they are. Through carefully selected toys and a safe, supportive relationship, children are able to:
• Express emotions they don’t yet have words for
• Process experiences in a safe way
• Build confidence and self-esteem
• Develop emotional regulation skills
• Strengthen their sense of safety and connection In sessions, your child leads the play, while the therapist provides a calm, attuned presence — helping them feel seen, understood, and supported.
Over time, this leads to meaningful emotional growth and positive changes in behaviour.
